Team Everest Company

The Team Everest Company meeting last night was great! The room was packed with people interested in owning their own business, vendors displayed products around the room, and with a few new announcements about products which are coming, people seemed very excited.

Dave Call, Founder and Chairman of Team Everest, gave the opening remarks and an overview of Team Everest as well as outlined the compensation plan. Then we split into 4 groups -- 1) people who are interested in products and the online store; 2) those who are interested in the John Galt Society and self-improvement; 3) those who want to build a network business and focus on selling Ferox Fuel Tabs (which increase gas mileage), and 4), those who just want to learn about the compensation and how to make money.

I really like the different groups because everyone can choose what fits them -- it's not an all-or-nothing company. I went to the online store presentation given by Eric Raymond. I always enjoy Eric's presentations. He is well-spoken, knowledgeable, and makes it exciting with annoucements.

If any of you are interested in a new business -- with your own online discount store, or networking, or education/self-improvement, I would higly recommend coming to a Team Everest Company meeting. They are held every Thursday evening from 7:00 to about 8:30 (sometimes goes a bit longer depending on new annoucements). The Team Everest offices are located in Orem, Utah at 727 N. 1550 E. Suite 175.

Or to view the business presentation online visit the Team Everest Company Site.

Marketing 101 Class

Well, the turnout for our Internet Marketing 101 class was great. The room was full and from the feedback we received, everyone felt they learned a great deal. I loved the energy and willingness to learn which people brought with them.

Both Wendy and I felt the class went well, although we both identified several things we can do to improve. We would like to conduct some training in a more hands-on environment, break classes down into categories, such as a class specifically for blogging.

Our next Marketing 101 class will be taught on July 8th. The cost is $50 per person and will start at 8:45 a.m. It will cover the topics we taught in the first class, but with a bit more emphasis on some traditional marketing methods, as well as including more time to answer questions.

Marketing 101 - Traditional and Internet Marketing

Hi all,

I'll be teaching a course on internet marketing along with my business partner, Wendy Bentley who will be covering some more traditional marketing methods to drive traffic to your website and increase sales.

This will be Marketing 101 - a class for people who want to do business online, but don't necessarily have much computer experience or technical background. Later on we will offer an advanced class on how to optimize your website for more free exposure online and other more technical strategies to bring people to your website.

The first class will be held on Saturday, June 24th from 9-11:00 a.m. at the Team Everest Headquarters located at 727 N. 1550 E. Suite 175 in Orem, Utah. The cost for this beginner marketing course is only $25 per person - you can pay at the door.

Please feel free to comment and let me know if you have any specific questions.

Free Project Management Software

I'm interested in finding the best free project management software available. I don't want to track spending, revenues, or contacts -- just the basics -- taking a project and creating task lists, making assignments, and tracking the progress. If anyone has any suggestions, please comment and let me know. Thanks

eBay Ads

eBay has announced it will be introducting contextual ads for eBay sellers. The eBay ads will allow sellers to promote their auctions on other websites -- directing traffic to their eBay auctions. The ads will be placed on other websites (for a percentage of the sale if the auction listing actually sells.) The program (eBay AdContext) is being tested currently.

I'll be interested to see if this takes off. It seems that it's just another way to make money for eBay along with all of their fees. I can see this working for large ticket items, but for smaller eBay sellers, it may end up taking too much of their profit to make much sense. With eBay listing fees, selling fees, store fees, and PayPal fees generally added to each eBay item sold, another fee may not be very attractive to sellers. I do think a lot of people will try the service out to see if it works and ends up in more sales. I'm waiting to see how things turn out before writing off this service completely.

People's Hottest Bachelor is Coming to Utah!

People Magazine just released their latest "Hottest Bachelors" edition of the magazine. Taylor Hicks, the newest American Idol is listed as People's Hottest Bachelor and he is coming to Utah! Taylor will be performing at the Stadium of Fire on July 1st. The American Idol tour is scheduled to begin on July 5th but no Utah tour date is listed, so if you are a member of the Soul Patrol and want to see Taylor Hicks perform live make sure to get your tickets soon. Tickets are available at www.byutickets.com.

I've been thinking about how Taylor must be feeling right now. It's probably a bit overwhelming but also exciting -- going from a small-time musician to being on the cover of People Magazine, doing commericals, photo shoots, publicity tours, and performing in front of thousands.

I remember a few years ago I was speaking and doing some fireside presentations which were videotaped, and had some written articles going around the internet with information about me in them. I was shopping one day and a woman kept glancing at me. It was a little strange. Soon she came over and acted like we were good friends and she knew all about me. It turns out that she had been to one of my presentations -- but it was a strange feeling to know that someone I had never met before felt like they knew me.

This past week I had someone seek me out (somehow tracking down my cell phone number) to ask questions about something I had written in one of my blogs. Don't ask me how he did that - I have no idea. :-)

I've had a very small taste of what it feels like to be in the public eye, but nothing like what Taylor must be experiencing. It's very strange to have people feel like they know you, just because you are in the public eye. Taylor is so real, warm and open when he is interviewed, I am sure it's going to be a bit of a shock to him.

Anyway, I hope you'll all come and join me at the Stadium of Fire -- I wouldn't miss it this year -- It's going to be GREAT!

New Websites

Our new websites are up today. It took me about an hour to build our Team Everest Products site and then I transferred our Qi Business Solutions Blog over from Blogger to our business site.

Neither site is perfect, but my business partner and I are happy with the first phase. Check out the sites and let me know what you think.

Gas Pills - Improve Gas Mileage

I've been using Ferox Gas Pills in my car for a few weeks now. I generally get about 25-30 mpg in my car. But with using Ferox my gas mileage has increased to 36.59 mpg for this last tank of gas. Pretty cool. AND -- I've been running my air conditioner constantly, plus mostly driving in town.

I went to a meeting today about the fuel additive -- and the chemist who created the product was there. He presented the product well and explained how and why it works. With Bio Performance Gas Pills in the news and finding out that it worked to increase gas mileage, but only because it clogged up the fuel filter -- it was reassuring to know why Ferox works.

Here are some of my notes about the Gas Pills.

1. Ferox dissolves the carbon buildup in your engine -- therefore providing a more efficient engine and cleaner burn.

2. It reduces emissions. (I love this one!)

3. It prevents sulfuric acid from forming -- (I can't remember why this helps increase your gas mileage, but it made sense when he described the chemistry.)

4. In new cars you probably won't notice a difference right away because the carbon has not had time to buildup in your car -- but as time goes by, the Ferox will prevent carbon from building up, and therefore keep giving you good gas mileage.

5. Ferox dissolves very quickly and cleanly. (Apparently the BioPerformance Gas Pills left sediment in your engine and would require changing your fuel filter several times to get it out of your car.)

6. Ferox Gas Tablets can be used in airplanes (Bio Performance could not), as well as in any diesel or gas engine.

7. If your engine has quite a bit of carbon buildup in the system, it may take a few uses of the Ferox gas pills to see an increase in your gas mileage.

8. Ferox is in a convenient tablet form, is non-toxic and easy to put in your car.

9. After using the fuel additive you will have cleaner fuel injectors (the top part which will allow for a more uniform spray in the fuel).

10. Ferox is less expensive than most other fuel additives out there.

Anyway, with my own success -- increasing my gas mileage, and it seems my car has a little more power -- I'm excited to see what the next tank of gas brings. You can buy Ferox gas pills online -- for about $40 a box or $27 per bottle.

Discount Shopping Store

Here is a great Discount Shopping Store. You can purchase very high quality products at a fraction of the cost. For example you can purchase nutritional supplements, essential oils, Ferox fuel tablets, anti-aging skin care, weight loss products, chocolate truffles, jewelry, edited DVD movies, furniture and much more.

Google To Announce Spreadsheet Program

By MICHAEL LIEDTKE, AP Business Writer

SAN FRANCISCO - Google Inc. will introduce a spreadsheet program Tuesday, continuing the Internet search leader's expansion into territory long dominated by Microsoft Corp.

Although it's still considered a work in progress, Google's online spreadsheet will offer consumers and businesses a free alternative to Microsoft's Excel application — a product typically sold as part of the Office software suite that has been a steady moneymaker for years.

To avoid swamping the company's computers, Google's spreadsheet initially will be distributed to a limited audience. Google also wants more time to smooth out any possible kinks and develop more features, said Jonathan Rochelle, the product manager of the new application.

The Mountain View, Calif.-based company planned to begin accepting sign-ups for the spreadsheet at 9 a.m. EDT Tuesday through the "labs" section of its Web site. Rochelle wouldn't specify how many people will be granted access to the spreadsheet application.

Google's spreadsheet isn't as sophisticated as Excel. For instance, the Google spreadsheet won't create charts or provide a menu of controls that can be summoned by clicking on a computer mouse's right-hand button.

Rochelle said the program's main goal is to make it easier for family, friends or co-workers to gain access to the same spreadsheet from different computers at different times, enabling a group of authorized users to add and edit data without having to e-mail attachments back and forth.

"We are totally focused on the sharing aspect," he said.

Although distributing software over the Internet gives more people greater access to programs, the approach requires trusting a custodian like Google to save and protect the information from unauthorized users.

That's a leap many security-conscious companies are unwilling to make and something consumers may be reluctant to do amid rising concerns of government snooping.

The spreadsheet represents Google's latest software application to be tethered to an Internet connection instead of a single computer's hard drive. Google acquired an online word processing application called Writely in March and rolled out a calendar service a few weeks later.

All of those free programs pose a possible threat to Microsoft, which established itself as the world's largest software maker by selling its Windows operating system and complementary applications that run on the platform.

As Google invades its turf, Microsoft has been mounting its own attack by investing heavily in Internet search.

Microsoft's assault hasn't hurt Google yet, but some industry analysts believe the competitive landscape could shift early next year with the release of Vista — the long-delayed upgrade to the Windows operating system.

Microsoft Considers Buying eBay

Microsoft is considering purchasing eBay. It would possibly be merged with MSN in order to compete with Google -- however the New York Post announced that because of antitrust concerns, the purchase decision has "cooled somewhat". I would hate to see eBay swallowed up into the Microsoft machine. It seems that huge companies want to just increase in size, rather than improving what they are offering.

Taylor Hicks is Coming to Utah!

It was announced this morning that Taylor Hicks is coming to Utah! The latest American Idol will be performing at the Stadium of Fire on July 1st in Provo Utah. Taylor will be joining Lee Ann Womack, the Battle of the Bands and other entertainers to celebrate our freedom.

I'm so excited. I love Taylor. I picked him as the winner of American Idol during the first few rounds -- and was very glad to see him make it all the way through. I predict he will have a very long career -- his sound is unique, his style is classic Taylor Hicks, and he has an incredible love of music.

I know tickets are still available, but are going fast -- you can get more information about buying tickets at the Official Stadium of Fire Website.

Welcome Taylor!
