Patriotic Service - Stephen Covey
Last night I attended a Patriotic Service with Stephen Covey as the keynote speaker. He talked about becoming a "Patriotic Trim Tabber" -- a Trim Tab is the small rudder on a large rudder of a ship. It is the trim tab which makes the larger rudder turn and therefore directs the ship.
I had heard Dr. Covey give a similar speech at BYU a few months ago and was happy to have the reminders about how small things/small adjustments can change a life course.
Dr. Covey discussed 4 basic human needs: 1) To Live 2) To Love 3) To Learn 4) To Leave a Legacy.
My favorite part of the evening was a short video about Making Your Life a Masterpiece. If you were to paint a picture of your life, what would it be? What colors would you use? It was very thought provoking. I also loved the philosophy: "Live Life in Crescendo". I would like to incorporate that mantra into my life more -- making life bigger and better as it goes along.
I always love hearing people speak about service, improving the world around us, and learning truths. It motivates me to be better, do more, and improve my own life.
