Humanitarian Service

For those of you interested in humanitarian service, there is an incredible story about Mohammad Yunus and his work at the Grameen Bank in Bangladesh. A PBS special is to be aired on Yunus on Tuesday, August 16th and nationally in October. It shows what can be done to help “the poorest of the poor” through micro-loans they repay, rather than through hand-outs. I have found Yunus' work to be inspirational and motivational. I hope you'll watch and get inspired to make a difference in your corner of the world.

Romay,

Thanks for the plug. The film you have referred to is called "Small Fortunes" and will be broadcast on October 27th, 2005 at 10:00pm EST nationwide on PBS stations.

However, local PBS stations have the option whether they show the film or not. We need people to contact their local PBS station and make sure they include it in their programming. The station managers are blocking out their October schedule now, so now is the best time to let them know!

For more information, you can visit my blog. It has more information about "Small Fortunes", as well as my experiences with microcredit.
