MyFamily.com - Websites for Families
I've been thinking about my family a lot for the past few days -- my 5 brothers and 2 sisters and parents who are serving our Church on an LDS mission. There are over 40 of us including nieces and nephews and in-laws. I have such a tremendous amount of love for each of them, but it's hard to stay in touch as much as I would like. We're all very busy. My brother Paul Allen, started a company called MyFamily.com which provides websites for families - a way to stay in contact with each other.
MyFamily.com offers such a great service for families. You can create a family website in just a few minutes, send out email invitations to all of your family members and start posting messages. It is the best way to keep in touch with family from far away. You can post photos, news items, have reminders email you about upcoming birthdays and events. You can customize the site for your personal needs.
Anyway, the websites used to be free, but I think there is a $20 charge per year or something -- very reasonable. My family has been using our website since the beginning and it's so much fun when you get on and have your 8 year old niece or 15 year old nephew writing to the rest of the family. I love logging in and reading about what's going on in the lives of my family members. We have a website for my parents and siblings, one for my mom's side of the family, and one for my dad's side of the family. If you don't have one yet, I recommend checking it out and starting your own family site for your family. It's a great gift to start up the site and then simply invite your family to get involved. Then you post something once and you don't have to worry about notifying everyone, because notices can automatically be sent. It is the best way I have found to keep up on what everyone is doing, but it does take commitment for family members to take a few minutes and post news items. Once you get into the habit of checking your site every day, just like checking your email, you'll see how MyFamily.com can bring your own family closer together.
